From 1779 until the period between the two World Wars Rijeka had a long way of history. Several times prevented by Austrian imperial interests against Trieste but with strong support from Hungary a major port even with European scale could have been constructed by the end of the 19th century that successfully served the Hungarian imperial interests, and became a Hungarian sea exit. Roman KODET
Central European Papers 2013, 1(2):29-38 | DOI: 10.25142/cep.2013.014
After the end of the Bosnian annexation crisis Austria-Hungary was able to improve its position in the Ottoman Empire. This was enabled not only due to successful negotiations with the Porte which enabled the solution of the crisis, but also by the cautious policy of Vienna during the coup of 13th April in Istanbul. During the second half of 1909 Austria-Hungary was able to considerably improve its relations with the Ottoman Empire. Although Vienna was able to profit from this fact in some cases as a whole the favourable situation was not utilized to improve the stance of the Habsburg monarchy on the Balkans. Since the second half of 1910 the relations...

István JANEK
Central European Papers 2013, 1(2):51-63 | DOI: 10.25142/cep.2013.016
Hungarian society and the government never approved of the loss of the northern region populated by Hungarians and Slovaks, just as they never accepted the loss of other territories of the former Kingdom of Hungary. They endeavoured to regain those territories during the interbellum years. The annexation of Slovakia was in the focus of Hungarian revisionary thought, cherished by both political and military circles. Hungarian politicians especially resented the loss of Upper Hungary, second only to the loss of Transylvania, because this region had played an essential role in the economy of the Kingdom of Hungary. Hungarian propaganda implied that since...

Richard MIHOK
Central European Papers 2013, 1(2):77-80 | DOI: 10.25142/cep.2013.018
To sum up, it can be stated that the ethnic group called Rusins settled down continuously in the territory of the present Transcarpathia from the 6th century. There were interruptions in the process and the amount of them changed several times. Apparently, they didn't belong to the Eastern Slavs. This process was accelerated from the 14th century but from this time we have to speak about the Eastern Slavs.
